My practice is based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, and I am keen to help my clients achieve health and happiness through a collaborative, personalised approach to nutrition and lifestyle.
For several years when I was a teenager I had a Saturday job in a whole food shop, which lit the flame of interest in the power of food to be delicious, healthy and restorative. My interest in nutrition was rekindled when my daughter was diagnosed with bone cancer. Whilst still looking after my daughter as she recovered from treatment, I retrained as a Nutritional Therapist on the Master's Degree Course, accredited by the University of Middlesex at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York.
Nutritional Therapy uses food and lifestyle choices to optimise health and well-being. It is not an 'alternative' therapy but is a recognised complementary medicine with a scientific evidence-base, and works alongside conventional medicine.
I call my practice 'Enjoy Nutrition' because I believe food and eating should be a pleasure whatever a person's health or dietary needs may be. I work together with clients to find a new way of eating and living that suits their needs and preferences, and that is sustainable within the demands of their daily life. My goal is to help people towards healthier, happier choices so that they can enjoy their food and enjoy life.
I absolutely love my work.
...that is my ambition for all my clients.
Many people do not realise just how much adjusting your diet can contribute to the improvement of many common ailments and conditions. Many of the patients sitting in GP's waiting rooms are there about conditions that respond well to dietary interventions such as diabetes, digestive complaints like IBS, thyroid issues, chronic fatigue and osteoporosis to name a few. Combining Nutritional Therapy with conventional medical therapy can help someone achieve an optimum state of health whilst living with a specific health condition, such as arthritis, atherosclerosis, Parkinson's disease, bowel disease and psoriasis, for example.
I am Jessica, a Registered Nutritional Therapist based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire. I use food as a tool for helping people make improvements to their health and well-being. I am trained to look at health issues from the perspective of the whole person and trying to find root causes to a problem. If you can identify a possible cause, you can target your therapy at that, rather than just at the symptoms. I use the most up to date evidence as the basis of any explanations and recommendations I may make for you. I coach you through any changes you feel able to make and I am there to support you and motivate you in making them.
